This section is for other photographers who have inspired me for the 'Taste of Digbeth' college project. I shall discuss what it is about some of these photos that i like. I do tend to like the black and white images especially those with high contrast, the patterns and texture really stand out and the subjects (people) often in silhouette are interesting when strategically placed in the photograph. I particularly like the two black and white photographs with sunbursts in them. I have found that i can get this effect of the sunburst by setting my aperture to f16 then my shutter speed accordingly with a low ISO and possibly an Neutral Density filter which is built into my Fujix100s. I think i will actually shoot some of the photos for the project with the built in black and white setting with a yellow filter on the fuji, this will give me some interesting skies.
My favourite photograph is the black and white photo of the old gentleman with a stick standing outside of what appears to be an indoor escalator, the photo is very symmetrical and has some interesting lines, shadows and highlights the subject is standing almost centre and is framed beautifully on the highlight causing him to be a silhouette. There is also a possible story or narrative for the viewer to interpret. This particular photo is by Valerie Jardin at http://valeriejardinphotography.com/ i enjoy a lot of her work.
